Funding secured for COVID19 Interim Mobility measures in Greystones

By July 27, 2020Notices

Wicklow County Council and Greystones 2020 are delighted to advise that funding has been allocated by the National Transport Authority for COVID19 Interim Mobility measures to provide traffic calming and transfer road space on Church Road for pedestrians, queuing and outdoor seating.

It is proposed to remove all pay parking spaces along Church Road from the Burnaby Lounge to the junction with La Touche Place and to reallocate the space from cars to pedestrians on a temporary basis, in order to help address public health concerns over social distancing and allow for increased movements around the town centre. Additional disabled parking bays will be provided in the vicinity of pharmacies at McGleenans, McCauleys and Boots and loading bays will be extended where necessary.

The impact of the COVID19 pandemic will be felt for some time and Wicklow County Council want to ensure that Greystones town centre is a safe welcoming environment which supports local business and the wider community.  Planters and bollards will be installed on Church Road in the coming weeks, to enhance the attractiveness of the town centre as a place to live, work, visit and do business.
