Ladies in the Blues with special guest – Bree Harris

Celebrate the power of women in the history of the blues with ‘Ladies in the Blues’, the show that takes you on a women‘s journey from the Gospel roots of the 1920s through to Vaudeville, Jazz & 1960s Blues-Rock. This music theatre show.which has sold out at Cork Jazz Festival & Mermaid Arts Centre, has received standing ovations across the country.  Narrating their stories through song & iconic visual backdrops, Ladies in the Blues pays homage to the great female trailblazers like Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Ma Rainey, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Bessie Smith, Janis Joplin and many more, who transformed the blues from local folk music into the art form it is today, bringing black culture into American main stream music.

This all-Irish cast includes four diverse female singers and a crackin’ band of blues sidemen. Sincgers are: Emma Nicolai, Grainne Hunt, Clara Rose & Jhil Quinn
