This year’s King of Greystones Charity-based triathlon will take place on Sunday July 28th. The inaugural King of Greystones Charity Triathlon Challenge took place in August 2002 and was set up by a team of friends who lived in the Wicklow area to encourage people to take part in a novel fundraising event.
Since then, the event itself and the popularity of triathlons have evolved enormously. The King of Greystones Charity triathlon caters for people who would like to try a triathlon for the first time or for the seasoned athlete, while showcasing the beautiful scenery Greystones has to offer, it is now Ireland largest charity Triathlon Event.
For the 4th year running the King of Greystones Charity Triathlon will be raising funds for The Gavin Glynn Foundation (a local charity setup in memory of a young boy called Gavin who passed away from cancer at the age of 4.5 years old. The Gavin Glynn Foundation raises funds to help all families from all over Ireland who need to travel overseas for specialist cancer treatment).
